Scholarship Benefits: The scholarship will provide a partial funding i.e minimum of $400,000 over three years.

Eligible Nationalities: Only Australian Citizens and Permanent residents can apply

Eligibility Criteria:

You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You have been awarded a PhD between 1 September 2013 and 1 September 2016; or have obtained an Eligibility Exemption from the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) or equivalent if your PhD was awarded prior to 1 September 2013.
Your proposed area of research is in a field of research at a participating university (refer to Our Partner Universities below) with an Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) four digit Field of Research (FOR) rating “well above world standing”. For a comprehensive list of FOR ratings by university, visit the Australian Research Council’s website.
You are able to commence your research by 30 June 2020.

Application procedure:

Your proposed research will contribute to the future of Australia in one of the Foundation’s three focus areas (please note: funding requests for the purpose of medical research as defined in the ARC Medical Research Policy available on the Australian Research Council website will not be considered).
Your proposed research includes international opportunities to develop your leadership skills and global networks, such as; study tours for the purpose of research, attending a short course or conference, an internship or volunteering.
You are able to supply two letters of reference, one academic reference and one personal reference; and a letter of support from the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research).
You are able to attend the National Assessment Centre held in Sydney on 9/10 December 2019.

To be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance or DUPRS a student must be a domestic or international student enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University
To be eligible for an RTP Fees Offset an applicant must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees
To be eligible for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend a student must not be receiving income from another source to support that student’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 per cent of that student’s RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate. Income unrelated to the student’s course of study or income received for the student’s course of study but not for the purposes of supporting general living costs is not to be taken into account.

The degree is currently not available to international students requiring a student visa. Current students enrolled in the University of Sydney MBA, University of Sydney employees and partners in the promotion of the scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Scholars in the social sciences and humanities are eligible to apply for the program.
While a wide range of topics receives support each year, all funded research must contribute to a body of knowledge enabling the U.S. to better understand the region and formulate effective policies within it.
All applicants should clearly describe the policy-relevance of their work, be it in anthropology, history, international relations, political science, or some other field.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
The competition for funding is open and merit-based.
All applications will receive consideration without regard to any factor such as race, color religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, political affiliation, or disability.

Value of Title VIII Research Scholar Program, 2020-21:

The successful applicants of Title VIII Research Scholar Program, 2020-21 will receive an award of between $7,000 and $25,000.
